Brookfield Asset Management controversies (where Carney was a senior executive, including Vice Chair and later Chair):
Brookfield (under Carney’s leadership period) owned and later sold large-scale farms in Brazil linked to deforestation (9,000 hectares cleared for soybean production), alleged human rights abuses (including attempted evictions of Indigenous communities and a fine for “slave labour-like” conditions at one farm).
The key deforestation and human rights controversies (including slave labour-like conditions, attempted Indigenous evictions, and fines) center on farm operations from 2010 to 2021 coinciding with this Email from Jeffrey Epstein to himself, for simple remi der. ( I also email myself personal documents and things and store them in folders within my email folder for quick reference later on.)
Deforestation of ~9,000 hectares in the Cerrado region for soybean production occurred mainly between 2010 and 2021 (satellite data from Brazil’s space institute).

A major fine of R$800,000 (~$163,000 USD) for “slave labour offences” at one farm (Fazenda Colorado) was issued earlier but upheld by a regional labour court in December 2021.
One source notes a related Brazilian court ruling in 2014 on “slave-like” conditions at farms controlled by Brookfield entities (fining ~$397,000 CAD equivalent).

Attempted evictions of Indigenous communities and other abuses were ongoing issues leading up to sales in late 2021.
Mark Carney was CEO while this was happening. Something you will never see the state funded CBC, CTV media ever tell you about. But you are free to fact check this WITH an AI tool asking about brookfield management, civil rights viloation abuse in brazil and who is the CEO at that time.
These were highlighted by Global Witness and BBC reports in 2022, but no lawsuits were filed by Brookfield/Carney against farmers—rather, the company faced criticism, investigations, and fines related to their own operations brought by farmers.
The Canadian media stayed silent then and still stayed silent on these past Carney crimes.
In Canada, Brookfield Renewable (a subsidiary) was sued by Mississauga First Nation in 2022 for $100 million over alleged breaches of Indigenous rights related to hydro dams (not farms). Carney’s role was questioned in media (e.g., CBC, NDP comments), but this was defensive—the company was the defendant, being sued by Canafian Indigenous.

In short: Carney’s time at Brookfield drew scrutiny over environmental/human rights issues in agribusiness farming (especially Brazil soy farms).
Although he has stepped down as the CEO of Brookfield Management he still retains massive stock holding options, and his wealth is tied into the productivity of brookfield management.
He is not the green environmentalist he pretends to be. He still is a major stockholder at brookfield who invests in oil pipelines all over the world.
By stopping the manufacturing and distribution of oil from our own country in the way of pipelines, he profits from his investments in pipelines in other countries, while he keeps Canada economy stagnant. This is apparent in our stagnant GDP which has been going on since the liberals have taken office in 2015.
Pierre Poilievre has brought this to people’s attention on multiple occasions just to be ignored by the media and liberal voters.
